The dot SE country-specific domain name extension was set up in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration process was really restrictive, so a very low number of domain names were obtained. Individuals were permitted to register no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was necessary, i.e. only Swedish persons, commercial entities and organizations were able to secure a .SE domain.
