Varnish is a web app accelerator platform, which caches information for the sake of faster response times. It’s occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy too and it interacts between a web server and an Internet browser. When a website visitor loads a particular webpage, the content is requested by the browser, and then the server processes this browser request and returns the needed information. If Varnish is activated for a specific website, it will cache its pages at the very first request and if the user opens a cached page once again, the data will be delivered by the caching platform instead of the server. The increased load speed is a result of the significantly faster response speed that the Varnish platform offers as compared with any web server software. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the website visitors will keep seeing the very same content over and over again, since any update on any of the web pages is reflected in the content that Varnish keeps in its memory.
Varnish in Shared Website Hosting
You can make use of Varnish’s potential and optimize your websites’ loading speed regardless of the shared website hosting plan that you’ve chosen and you can activate and set up the data caching platform with a few clicks of the mouse from the simple-to-work-with GUI offered by our innovative Hepsia Control Panel. During the process, you’ll be able to choose two different things – how many Internet sites will employ the Varnish caching platform, i.e. the number of instances, and how much info will be cached, in other words – the amount of system memory. The latter comes in increments of 32 MB and is not linked to the number of instances, so you can add more instances and less memory and the other way around. In case you’ve got plenty of content on a certain Internet site and you draw a lot of visitors, more memory will guarantee you a better result. You may also consider employing a dedicated IP for the sites that will use Varnish. The Hepsia Control Panel will offer you easy 1-click buttons for stopping or rebooting any instance, for deleting the cache associated with any site and for checking elaborate logs.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish comes by default with all semi-dedicated servers offered by us and you can use it for workload distribution purposes. It’s available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The caching platform comes with 64 megabytes of system memory for cached content storing purposes and you can use it with any Internet site that you host in your semi-dedicated account. In case you need more than that, you can increase the system memory allowance. The memory itself is offered in increments of 32 MB in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The same section will permit you to add more instances too, if you would like to use Varnish with multiple websites. The two things can be ordered separately – you can cache the content of one traffic-hungry Internet site or run several websites with the default memory quota. You can get the most out of the Varnish caching platform in case you’ve got a dedicated IP address and you can order one with your semi-dedicated server plan as well. Hepsia will grant you total control over the platform and, with no more than one click of the mouse, you will be able to delete the cached content, to view a system log file or to restart an instance.
Varnish in VPS Servers
The Varnish caching platform comes by default with all VPS servers that we are offering on the condition that the server is ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, so you can optimize the work of your sites with just a couple of clicks of the mouse. The more powerful the package, the more system memory will be available to Varnish, but even with a less powerful package, the platform will be able to utilize several hundred megabytes, so even if you own several different websites, you’ll notice a noticeable decrease in the overall server load and a significantly faster web page load speed. The Varnish caching platform will have to work for a little while as the users browse the site and as soon as the content has been cached, you’ll observe the effect. One of the upsides of employing Varnish is that a less powerful and less expensive package will do the exact same job as a more expensive one without the platform, so not only will your Internet sites work significantly better, but you will also save a certain amount of money.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
You can use Varnish to enhance the loading speed of any site that is hosted on a dedicated server with us when the Hepsia hosting Control Panel is installed on it. Not only will you get the platform ready to be used at no additional charge, but you will also have full control over it through the Hepsia Control Panel’s easy-to-navigate interface. It will take only one single mouse click to start or deactivate an instance or to clear the cached data for any website that is using the Varnish platform and if you are more trained, you can also view the platform’s system logs. Varnish comes with no less than 3 gigabytes of virtual memory for web content caching purposes, so even if you host many sites on your machine and they all use the Varnish platform, the difference in their overall performance will be detectable. You will simply have to wait for a little while until Varnish caches whatever pages the site visitors open on their end. The platform performs best if the Internet sites use a dedicated IP address, but since our servers include 3 free IPs, you’ll have everything you need.
